United Nations World Population Prospects (UNWPP) 2019 Revision

UNWPP is a publicly available dataset which contains demographic estimates and projections for almost all countries in the world. This includes population data, fertility data, mortality data, migration data, and annual and single age data.

For the VIMC project, a number of extensions were needed for convenience and standardisation. These included surrogate data for some small countries (Tuvalu, Marshall Islands, Kosovo), some theoretical extrapolations backward from 1950 to around 1890, for models that require the whole birth cohort to exist, and some matching of the IGME data (www.childmortality.org) to the infant mortality data provided by UNWPP.

Reports on the methodology of all of these extensions are also in the Montagu reporting portal.
